It really is true that inspiration can strike wherever you are. I woke up today, took one look out the window, and had to get out there. I slept in just late enough for the fog to clear up enough that I could drive safely, and got out to the Palisades near Cedar Rapids, Iowa and headed down to the old Dam.
Trudging through the wet sand in the warm 50 degree air, I couldn't decide where to point my camera first. The trees had a ghostly appearance to them, the water lapping against the shores with the fog rising ominously. There were fishermen in their boats, taking advantage of the rapids and channels the fish like to feed in. Plenty of animal tracks from the morning, but nothing moving besides a few birds.
I threw my trusty 28-75 lens on the body, and started pointing everywhere. I met a fellow photographer perched up on the old Dam, wrapping up his session just as I was getting started. I'd love to stumble across his work from today, just to see what different inspirations he pulled from the day.
All in all, a very successful spur of the moment shoot. I hope you enjoy the results as well!
